If they built it, we did come! On May 21st, 2011, my son and I began the father and son adventure of a lifetime! We departed from Phoenix, AZ on a 7-week road trip and drove around the country to see a game at, or tour every major league baseball park - a trip that covered 11,232 miles. Our baseball trip concluded on July 12th with us attending the All Star Game at Chase Field. This blog is a diary of our experience.

Six Weeks to Go!
Six weeks from today and we're hittin' the road. The tickets are purchased for all but 3 games, and then the only thing left to do will be to plan all of the other stuff to do besides seeing baseball games.

The Red Sox Tickets
Don't even ask how much I had to spring for these bad boys. A Father's Day day game at Fenway ain't cheap.

It's Opening Day!!! - 51 days until we launch!
In honor of Opening Day for the 2011 Season, the countdown is officially on. Only seven weeks from Saturday and we're headed to San Diego to begin the big trip.
All of the hotels have been reserved, the car has been rented, and the Red Sox tickets are in our possession. By the end of next week, we should have tickets for all of the games and tours we will be taking.
The next thing we will be doing is going to tripadvisor.com to plan out other things to see and do throughout the country when we're not seeing baseball games. If you have any suggestions, please let me know by posting comments on this page.

83 days until the big day!
Before we know it, the big day will be here. Bought the Red Sox tickets to our Fathers Day game in Boston on June 19th. Ouch - $300 for the pair! But we wanted to get nice seats to perhaps the most historic ballpark remaining. The single game tickets have gone on sale for most of the teams so we will start buying them now.

123 Days Until the Big Day and Counting!
Less than four months to go before we take off on the baseball trip. The latest news is that all of the hotel and rental car reservations have been made. The next step is to start buying tickets. If anyone out there has a hook-up for getting some decent tickets for any of the games we're going to, please let me know.
